The online presence of Valley Church Student Ministry

Were you as big of a fan as I was of Family Feud? I miss it so much I even bring out the term “Survey Says…” as often as I can in my lingo. As you recall, 100 people were randomly surveyed about their preference, opinions, and lifestyle.

One Sunday morning in April we pulled off our own family feud - though it wasn’t as random of a sampling. We asked students to fill out an anonymous survey asking youth related questions. We were able to draw answers from 89 students in our youth group that morning.

The results have been tabulated. Students - are you curious as to whether you have a “cool” youth group or a “preppy” one? Parents - ever wondered whether your teenager ever thinks about you? Leaders - wonder what subjects you need to discuss with your small group?

Well…quit waiting around and check it out here!

As the school year closes and Crew & Pledge go on a summer break we would like to take the time to thank the leaders who gave many nights to serve in the Student Ministries.

Students - be sure to take this one step further and thank the leaders personally. If it weren’t for them, this ministry wouldn’t be where it’s at today!

Special thanks to all our Pledge leaders: Chris Covill, Travis Waters, Laura Redig, Kelly Kalvig, Jon & Sandy Kelderman, Karin Johnson, Katie Chiaramonte, Ryan Tow, Kari Nelson,  Matt Johnson, Nick & Lisa McVicker, and Bobbi Fontenot.

Also our Crew leaders deserve some love for all their time and effort. A great team that includes: Kyle Adams, Bobby Baehr, Ted Beem, Jenna Bradley, Samantha Chase, Tony Chiaramonte, Larry & Patrice Ekart, Alex Fagan, Aaron Fulton, Tim Gaynor, Katie Hanson, Elizabeth Lowe, Aaron Messenger, Vaughn & Darla Minger, Jessica Murrow, Kari Nelson, Jordan Oaks, Chelsea Pearson, Zach Pederson, Jeff Pepping, Kaitlyn Swenson, Aaron Willard, Brenda Copley, and Shelly York.

You are the heroes of this ministry. You are the answers to our prayers.

Concert @ CaribouThanks to all of you who came out Saturday night to take in some sweet tunes and caffeinated drink. Special kudos to Geoff and Hannah Safford for bringing the goods on the guitar and mic. In all, 50 showed up for this shin-dig. If you missed out, keep your summer calendar open because the show will go on.

If you were in the house on Saturday night, let us know what you thought by adding your two cents worth to this post.

To follow up on last weeks message on “Living an Un-Wasted Life” - our student ministries has a great opportunity for both senior high and junior high.

JR HIGHERS

After raising money for Kids Against Hunger - we have the opportunity to see this project one step further. From 6:30-8:00pm we will meet at Valley Church and then ride in the white bus to the Kids Against Hunger warehouse, where together we will pack meals to be shipped to Africa. What a great chance to experience our faith by helping God’s loved ones who have so little.

Have your parents drop you off (6:30) and pick you up (8:00) at Valley Church on Wednesday, May 14th.

All students must have their parents fill out this release form and turn in on or before May 14th. Kids Against Hunger

SR HIGHERS

Did you know our children’s ministry serves over 300 kids each Wednesday night? On May 14th that many youngins will be roaming the rooms of Valley Church during the Children’s Extravaganza. With no CREW or Pledge this night, this frees up our senior highers to help with this event. Assist with inflatables, chaperone during the Illusionist, or just buddy up with a few kids during the evening. A fun way to love God and love others. 6:15-7:45pm on May 14th.

This is one competition that will result in no losers. For the next two weeks, all 7th-12th graders are on a mission. To raise as much money as possible to profit two organizations trying to accomplish the same goal: provide food for the starving people of Africa.

Kids Against Hunger

CREW students are encouraged to begin fundraising immediately for this incredible ministry. Students are encouraged to talk to parents, neighbors, friends, even teachers/coaches - to see if they would donate money towards this great cause. The money raised will go towards packaging meals - costing only 30 cents per meal - that will be shipped to Africa.

To spice up the competition, CREW groups will be competing against each other to raise money. The group with the highest funds will get have their skating paid for by Jon (Wednesday, May 7th). So act now; be creative; and raise money to help provide meals to those starving.

Challenge ‘08 Feed a Million

Sr High students, on the other hand, are raising money for the Feed a Million campaign that is part of our summer youth conference in Salt Lake City. While there, all youth groups will be packaging meals to send to Africa. Before that, youth groups are asked to contribute by raising funds. The deadline to send in money is in May so we on a sprint to collect money. Besides a fun competition with our Jr High group, we are also competing against all the youth groups attending Challenge this summer. Whichever group brings in the most money will receive 5 free registrations to the next Challenge conference - where (if we win) we will invite 5 teenagers from the African Fellowship to join us. There are so many great reasons to participate.

TIME TO STORE UP OUR TREASURES IN HEAVEN!
